INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup soft butter or margarine
  • 2 cups unpeeled, shredded apples
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts

STEP BY STEP:

  1. Cream sugar and butter. Add egg, beat well
  2. Shred apples medium fine and add at once to creamed mixture. Stir in sifted dry ingredients
  3. Add nuts. Bake in greased 8 or 9 inch square pan for 45 minutes at 350 degrees F
  4. Serve with ice cream, favorite sauce, or whipped cream.
