INGREDIENTS:

  • 3/4 cup chopped onions
  • 2 tbsp minced fresh garlic
  • 2 tbsp peeled and minced fresh ginger
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cup aloha shoyu
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 papaya, seeded, peeled and mashed
  • 2 tbsp sherry
  • 1 lb flank steak, sliced into thin sheets
  • 2 tsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup carrots, julienne
  • 2 tbsp green onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup red pepper
  • salt and pepper to taste

STEP BY STEP:

  1. Combine onions, garlic, brown sugar, shoyu, water, papaya and sherry in a large bowl, mix well for marinate the steak. Overnight in refrigerator
  2. Saute remaining vegetables over medium high heat for 2-3 minute
  3. Lay a thin sheet of steack on a clean flat surface
  4. Spoon vegetables onto one side of the flank steack, season with salt and pepper
  5. Roll the meat and secure it with toothpicks. Grill meat until cooked
  6. Grill meat until cooked.

TIPS:

Papaya is used to make the flank steak soft and easy to chew. Use ripe papaya to get good result.
